The process of replacing an automatic transmission on Volkswagen cars

Required tools and materials:

* New gearbox
* Tool set
* Lift or jack and stands
* Transmission fluid
* Oil pan gasket
* New transmission gasket
* Drive shaft seals

Instructions:

1. Preparing the car:

* Park the car on a level surface.
* Place the car on a lift or jack and stands.
* Provide secure support and disconnect the battery.
* Drain the transmission fluid.

2. Removing the old gearbox:

* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
*Remove the air filter.
* Disconnect the electrical connectors and cables from the transmission.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the starter and remove it.
* Disconnect the wheel drives.
* Remove the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine.
* Carefully remove the transmission from the vehicle.

3. Installing a new gearbox:

* Clean the contact surfaces on the engine and gearbox.
* Install a new transmission gasket.
* Lift the new gearbox and install it in place.
* Tighten the transmission-to-engine bolts.
* Connect the drives to the wheels.
* Install the starter and tighten the bolts.
* Connect the electrical connectors and cables to the transmission.
* Install the air filter.

4. Filling transmission fluid:

* Pour new transmission fluid through the fill hole.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
* Install the fill hole plug.

5. Completion:

* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Remove the stands and lower the vehicle to the ground.
* Drive the car and check the operation of the gearbox.

* It is recommended that you contact an experienced mechanic to perform this task if you do not have the appropriate skills.
*Before starting work, please read your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Use only original or recommended spare parts.
* Check the transmission fluid level 500 km after replacing the transmission.
