Procedure for changing the oil in a Jatco automatic transmission

Tools and materials:

* New ATF oil (type and volume see vehicle manual)
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission filter (if necessary)
* Oil drain container
* Funnel
* Wrenches
* Torque wrench

Steps:

1. Preparing the car

* Place the vehicle on a level surface with the engine idling.
* Move the gear shift lever to the Park position.
* Let the engine idle for a few minutes to warm up the oil.

2. Drain the oil

* Unscrew the drain plug in the automatic transmission pan. Be careful not to spill oil.
* Drain the oil into a drain container.
* Remove the automatic transmission pan by unscrewing the bolts.

3. Filter replacement (if necessary)

*If you need to replace the filter, remove the bolts holding it in place.
*Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.

4. Cleaning the tray

* Clean the automatic transmission pan from metal particles or other contaminants using a clean rag.

5. Installation of the pallet

* Install a new pan gasket onto the pan.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts with a torque wrench, observing the torque specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.

6. Oil filling

* Using a funnel, pour new ATF oil into the automatic transmission.
* Fill in the amount of oil specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.

7. Checking the oil level

* Start the engine and let it idle.
* Move the gearshift lever to all positions and return it to the park position.
* Check the oil level using the automatic transmission dipstick. The level should be between the “min” and “max” marks.

8. Adding oil (if necessary)

*Add oil as necessary until the correct level is reached.

9. Reset oil aging counter (if necessary)

* Some cars are equipped with a sensor that monitors the aging of automatic transmission oil. If your vehicle has such a sensor, reset it using a diagnostic scanner as directed in your owner’s manual.

10. Check for leaks

* Check under the car for oil leaks after starting the engine. If leaks are detected, tighten connections or replace faulty parts.
