Checking the oil level in an Opel automatic transmission
Materials:
* Dipstick for checking automatic transmission oil
* Clean rag
Steps:
1. Warm up the engine. Drive the vehicle for 5-10 minutes to warm up the transmission fluid.
2. Place the car on a level surface. Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the dipstick. Open the hood and find the dipstick to check the automatic transmission oil. It is usually colored red or yellow and labeled “ATF” or “Transmission Fluid”. Remove the dipstick.
4. Wipe the dipstick. Wipe off excess fluid from the dipstick with a clean rag.
5. Insert the dipstick back. Insert the dipstick into the guide tube until it stops.
6. Remove the dipstick again. Carefully remove the dipstick.
7. Check the oil level. The oil level should be between the two marks “Min” and “Max” on the dipstick.
8. Add oil if necessary. If the oil level is below the “Min” mark, add transmission fluid of the same brand and type recommended by the manufacturer. Do not overfill the oil.
9. Check the dipstick again. After adding oil, check the oil level again by following steps 4 to 7.
10. Insert the dipstick back. Insert the dipstick until it stops.
Recommendations:
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, approximately every 6 months or 10,000 km.
*Only use transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
* If the oil level is low, add it immediately and find the reason for the loss of fluid.
