Step-by-step guide to restoring an automatic transmission

1. Preparation

* Gather the necessary tools, including a set of socket wrenches, hammer, screwdrivers and caulk.
* Clean the work area and make sure it is well lit.
* Drain the transmission fluid from the gearbox.

2. Dismantling

* Remove all external components such as pans, wiring harnesses, sensors and actuators.
* Disconnect the transmission from the engine and disconnect the output shaft from the differential.
* Remove the transmission from the vehicle.

3. Disassembly

* Disassemble the transmission, removing all bolts and nuts.
* Separate the transmission housing and remove all internal components.

4. Cleaning
