The procedure for tightening the automatic transmission pan bolts

CAUTION: Always tighten the bolts in the correct order and do not overtighten them. Overtightening the bolts can damage the pan and automatic transmission.

1. Start with the two front bolts and tighten them to the following torque:

* 70-90 nm (50-65 ft-lb)

2. Then tighten the two rear bolts:

* 70-90 nm (50-65 ft-lb)

3. Continue tightening the remaining bolts one by one, moving around the perimeter:

* 70-90 nm (50-65 ft-lb)

Check again:

* After all bolts have been tightened, recheck their tightness using a torque wrench. Make sure they are tightened to the specified torque.

Adviсe:

* Use clean bolts and new pan sealant.
* Clean the joint planes and apply sealant according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
*Tighten bolts by hand and use a torque wrench only to achieve final torque.
