Planetary gearbox

Input and output shafts

* Input shaft: Receives torque from the engine and transmits it to the planetary gears.
* Output Shaft: Transmits output torque to the transmission.

Planetary series

* Consists of the following elements:
* Sun Gear: The center gear that rotates with the input shaft.
* Planetary Gears: Gears that rotate around the sun gear.
*Ring Gear: An outer gear that is usually stationary.

Brake bands and friction discs

* Brake bands: Used to keep planetary gears from rotating.
* Friction discs: Used to connect planetary gears to the input or output shaft.

Valve block

* Directs hydraulic fluid to brake bands and friction discs to control gear shifts.

Hydraulic pump

* Creates the hydraulic pressure needed to change gears.

Additional components

* Torque Converter: Fluid clutch that provides smooth torque transmission and serves as a torsional vibration damper.
* Oil Pan: Contains transmission fluid and provides lubrication and cooling to the transmission.
* Filter: Cleans transmission fluid from contaminants.
* Speed sensors: Monitor the speed of the input and output shafts and provide data to control gear shifting.
