Tools and materials:
* Socket for 13-pin trailer
* 13-pin trailer plug
* Electrical cable for trailer (13-pole)
* Connectors for cable connections
* Electrical tape
*Pliers or pliers
* Phillips screwdriver
Steps:
1. Preparation of cable connections:
*Cut the electrical cord to the correct length to reach from the socket to the plug.
* Strip the ends of the cable approximately 1 cm.
* Place cable connectors on each stripped end.
* Crimp the connectors with pliers.
2. Connection to car socket:
*Locate the trailer socket on your vehicle, usually located on or near the rear bumper.
* Make sure all wires in the outlet are insulated.
* Connect the wires in the cable connectors to the corresponding contacts in the socket.
* Tighten the screws on the contacts.
3. Connection to trailer plug:
*Locate the plug on the trailer.
* Connect the wires in the cable connectors to the corresponding contacts on the plug.
* Tighten the screws on the contacts.
4. Securing the cable:
* Route the cable from the car socket to the trailer plug.
* Secure the cable along the frame of the vehicle or trailer using clamps or ties.
* Make sure that the cable will not get twisted or pinched.
5. Connection insulation:
* Wrap electrical tape around all cable connections to protect them from moisture and corrosion.
Checking connection:
* Plug the trailer plug into the vehicle socket.
* Turn on the vehicle’s side lights.
* Turn on the trailer lights.
* Make sure all lights are working properly.
Notes:
* Make sure the trailer fuse is rated according to the trailer design.
