Tools for checking electrics in a car:

Multimeter
*Measures voltage, current and resistance
*Required for testing most electrical circuits

Voltage tester
*Detects the presence of voltage in the circuit
* Fast and easy to use

Ohmmeter
*Measures electrical resistance
* Useful for checking the integrity of wires and components

Indicator screwdriver
* Checks for voltage in restricted areas
* Lights up when touching voltage source

Trouble code scanner (OBD-II)
* Reads and decrypts fault codes stored in the car’s computer
*Can diagnose electrical problems

Other useful tools:
*DC voltmeter
*DC current meter
* Clamp meter
* Wiring tester
* Electrical diagram of the car

Simple checks:

Battery check
* Measure the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine turned off. The optimal voltage should be around 12.6 volts.
* Start the engine and check the voltage again. It should rise to 14-15 volts.

Checking the headlights
* Turn on the headlights and check if they work.
* Use a voltage tester to check for voltage at the lamp connectors.

Checking fuses
* Open the fuse panel and visually inspect the fuses for blown fuses.
* If you find a blown fuse, replace it with a fuse of the same rating.

Checking the electrical wiring
* Check visible wires for signs of wear or damage.
* Use an ohmmeter to check the continuity of the wires.
