Occupational safety instructions for an electrician repairing a car

1. General requirements

1.1. Persons who have undergone special training, tested their knowledge of labor protection requirements, have the appropriate qualifications and an electrical safety group of at least III are allowed to work as an electrician for car repairs.
1.2. The electrician must comply with the requirements of this Instruction, internal labor regulations, instructions on fire safety measures and other regulatory documents on labor protection.
1.3. The electrician must be provided with special clothing, safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE) that meets the requirements of current standards and regulations.
1.4. The electrician’s workplace must be organized in accordance with labor protection requirements and kept clean and tidy.
1.5. An electrician must be able to provide first aid to an electric shock victim.

2. Requirements before starting work

2.1. Before starting work, the electrician must:
– wear the required PPE;
– check the serviceability of the power tools, instruments, devices used, including insulating agents;
– make sure that there is no voltage on live parts subject to repair or maintenance;
– familiarize yourself with the documentation for the vehicle being repaired, the electrical diagram and safety instructions.

3. Requirements during operation

3.1. When performing repair and maintenance work on vehicle electrical equipment, you must use only serviceable power tools, instruments, devices and insulating agents.
3.2. Checking the presence or absence of voltage on live parts must be done using a voltage indicator. It is prohibited to determine the presence of voltage by touching your hand.
3.3. When working near live parts that are energized, it is necessary to use electrical protective equipment, including safety glasses and dielectric gloves.
3.4. Wires and cables must be laid on insulators or in a protective sheath.
3.5. Connections and branches of wires and cables must be made using crimping, soldering or welding. The use of twists is prohibited.
3.6. Live parts of electrical equipment must be covered with protective covers.
3.7. It is prohibited to work at height without using a safety belt and other means of protection against falls from height.

4. Requirements in emergency situations

4.1. In the event of an emergency (electric shock, fire, short circuit, etc.), it is necessary to immediately turn off the power supply and take measures to provide first aid to the victim and eliminate the emergency.
4.2. The electrician must immediately report the accident to his immediate supervisor.

5. Requirements upon completion of work

5.1. Upon completion of work you must:
– disconnect power tools, instruments, devices from the power supply;
– tidy up the workplace;
– remove and hand over PPE in the prescribed manner;
– inform the manager about all detected faults in electrical equipment.

6. Responsibility

6.1. For violation of the requirements of these Instructions, the electrician bears disciplinary, administrative or criminal liability in accordance with current legislation.
