Required tools and materials:
* Set of wrenches and sockets
* Driver or ratchet
* Flat head screwdriver
* Phillips screwdriver
* Jack and supports
* Drain pan
* Transmission fluid for refilling
Steps to remove automatic transmission:
1. Ensure safety: Set the parking brake, jack it up and support it on stands.
2. Drain the transmission fluid: Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan and remove it using a wrench or socket. Drain the liquid into the drain pan.
3. Disconnect the battery: Unscrew the negative terminal of the battery using a wrench or socket.
4. Remove the front drive:
* Unscrew the nuts securing the front drive shafts to the hubs using a wrench or socket.
* Remove the drive shafts from the hubs.
* Remove the front subframe by unscrewing its fastenings to the body.
5. Disconnect the engine:
* Remove the nuts securing the engine to the transmission using a wrench or socket.
* Support the engine with a jack.
6. Disconnect the transmission:
* Remove the bolts securing the torque converter to the engine flywheel using a wrench or socket.
* Disconnect all electrical connectors from the transmission.
* Disconnect all control cables from the transmission.
* Remove all bolts securing the transmission to the engine and body.
7. Remove the transmission:
* Carefully remove the transmission from the engine using a socket wrench or ratchet extension.
* Lower the gearbox to the floor.
Adviсe:
*It is highly recommended to use a transmission jack or lift to support and move a heavy transmission.
* Mark the position of all disconnected connectors and cables to facilitate reconnection.
* Be careful when handling the torque converter as it stores transmission fluid.
*You may need an assistant to remove and install a heavy transmission.
* After installing a new or repaired automatic transmission, be sure to replace the transmission fluid.
