Tools:

* Round nose pliers
* Phillips screwdriver
* Flat head screwdriver
* Hex key

Steps:

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the leather or plastic shift knob cover. It is usually secured with clamps or screws.

3. Remove the plastic handle cover. It is held on by latches. Carefully pry it out with a flathead screwdriver.

4. Unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the handle housing. Use a Phillips screwdriver.

5. Carefully lift the handle. It is connected to the gear shift lever by a metal rod.

6. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector. Locate and press the connector latch and disconnect it.

7. Remove the hex screw at the top of the handle. It holds the metal rod in place.

8. Remove the metal rod. It will slide out of the handle.

9. Disconnect the plastic part of the handle from the metal rod. It is held on by latches. Carefully pry it open with pliers.

10. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the spring clip at the bottom of the handle. When the latch is released, the handle will split into two parts.

Assembly:

Follow steps 10 to 1 in reverse order.
