Car electrical diagnostics includes the following steps:

External inspection:

* Visually inspect wires, connectors and fuses for damage, corrosion or loose connections.
* Check the battery for corrosion on the terminals and low electrolyte level.
* Check the alternator for signs of wear, such as whining or vibration.

Charging system diagnostics:

* Check the generator voltage at idle and under load.
* Checking the condition of the generator rotor and stator.
* Check the charging control system, including the voltage regulator and voltage sensor.

Starting system diagnostics:

* Check the starter for signs of wear or failure.
* Check the battery for sufficient capacity and starting power.
* Check the ignition system, including ignition coils, spark plugs and ignition distributor.

Diagnostics of lighting and alarm systems:

* Check all external and internal lamps for serviceability.
* Checking lighting switches and relays.
* Check the functioning of the hazard lights, turn signals and brake lights.
* Check the horn and windshield wiper systems.

Diagnostics of on-board computer and electronic systems:

* Scanning the on-board computer for fault codes.
* Diagnose and repair electronic components such as sensors, control modules and wiring.

Other checks:

* Checking the integrity of the grounding system.
* Checking the insulation of wires and components.
* Checking the leakage current in the electrical system.

Additionally:

* Diagnose safety system components such as airbags and anti-lock brakes.
* Diagnostics of air conditioning and heating systems.
* Diagnose driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
