Automotive electrical diagnostics

1. General inspection

* Check the battery for corrosion, cracks and damaged cables.
* Inspect the alternator for wear, damage and belt tightness.
* Check the starter for damage, oil leaks and solenoid function.
* Check the condition of all electronic control units (ECUs) and connections.

2. Battery testing

* Check the battery voltage using a multimeter or battery tester.

* Conduct a load test on the generator to check its power output.

4. Starter testing

*Measure the current drawn by the starter using an ammeter.
* Perform a load test on the starter to check its torque.

5. Testing of electrical components

* Check resistance, continuity and grounding of all electrical components such as sensors, switches and relays.
* Check the voltage and current on electrical components using a multimeter.
* Perform computer diagnostics using a diagnostic scan tool to check trouble codes and system parameters.

6. Diagnosis of complex faults

* Check electrical wiring for breaks, shorts and corrosion.
* Use an oscilloscope to analyze electrical signals and identify faulty components.
*Refer to electrical diagrams and repair manuals for specific diagnostic information.
