Enabling emergency mode of automatic transmission (automatic transmission) on Mercedes Actros

Step 1: Stop the car

* Stop the car in a safe place.
* Move the gear shift lever to the “P” (park) position.
* Apply the parking brake.

Step 2: Turn off the engine

Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.

Step 3: Wait 10 seconds

Wait approximately 10 seconds for the vehicle’s electronic systems to reboot.

Step 4: Turn the engine back on

Turn on the engine, but do not press the accelerator pedal.

Step 5: Press the emergency button on the dashboard

On the dashboard, as a rule, there is a special automatic transmission emergency mode button. Keep it pressed for about 5 seconds.

Step 6: Release the button after the beep

After you hear the beep, release the emergency button.

Step 7: Move the shift lever to the “D” (Drive) position.

* Slowly move the gear shift lever to the “D” (drive) position.
* If the switching is successful, the “D” indicator on the instrument panel will light up.

Step 8: Start moving

Start moving slowly, avoiding sudden acceleration and braking.

Note:

* Emergency mode of the automatic transmission allows the car to continue moving in limited gear.
* In this mode, the vehicle can only move at low speeds.
* It is recommended to contact a car service center as soon as possible to determine and eliminate the cause of the automatic transmission failure.
