Checking the transmission fluid level in a Volkswagen automatic transmission:

Materials:

* Clean rag
* Set of wrenches or screwdriver

Steps:

1. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. This will allow the transmission fluid to fully expand.
2. Turn off the engine and park the car on a level surface. This will ensure an accurate fluid level.
3. Open the hood and locate the transmission oil dipstick. The dipstick usually has a colored handle (red or yellow) and is located near the engine or on the side of the transmission.
4. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
5. Insert the dipstick back into the tube and pull it out again.

Checking the fluid level:

* Normal level: The fluid should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the dipstick.
*Low Level: If the fluid is below the MIN mark, the transmission needs to be topped off with fluid.
*High Level: If the fluid is above the “MAX” mark, the transmission should be drained of excess fluid.

Adding liquid:

If the fluid level is low, follow the instructions below to top up:

1. Locate the transmission fluid fill hole. It is usually located next to the oil dipstick.
2. Using a funnel, slowly add transmission fluid that meets your vehicle’s specifications.
3. Check the fluid level after each addition of fluid.
4. When the fluid level reaches between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks, stop adding.

Warning:

* Do not overfill the transmission with fluid.
*Use only transmission fluid that meets your vehicle’s specifications.
*If you are unsure about the fluid level, consult a qualified mechanic.
