Car electrics

A vehicle’s electrical system is a critical part of its functioning, providing power to various components and systems. The main elements of the automotive electrical system are:

Battery

* Provides backup energy to start the engine and power electrical equipment.
*Consists of lead-acid or lithium-ion cells that convert chemical energy into electrical energy.

Generator

* Charges the battery and provides power to electrical equipment when the engine is running.
* Converts mechanical energy from the engine into electrical energy.

Starter

* Starts the engine by transmitting torque to the crankshaft.
* Consists of a powerful electric motor and a solenoid that closes the circuit with the battery.

Wiring harness

* Connects various electrical components to provide power and data exchange.
* Has insulated wires, each of which has a specific purpose.

Relays and fuses

* Relays control the current supplied to certain components, preventing them from being damaged if overloaded.
* Fuses protect the electrical system from short circuits and burn out when a certain current value is exceeded.

Electrical systems powered by vehicle electricity

* Ignition system: creates a spark to ignite the fuel-air mixture.
*Lighting System: Provides lighting for safe driving and visibility.
* Air conditioning system: regulates the temperature inside the car.
* Sound System: Provides entertainment and information.
*Transmission Control Systems: Controls transmission operation for optimal fuel economy and performance.

Car electrical system care

* Check the battery, alternator and starter regularly.
* Monitor the electrolyte level in the battery and add distilled water if necessary.
* Protect the electrical system from moisture and corrosion.
* Do not overload the electrical system with excessive accessories or third party components.
* Always have the electrical system repaired or serviced by a qualified auto mechanic.
