Job Description
An automobile electrician installs, repairs, and maintains electrical systems in automobiles. This includes the following responsibilities:
* Diagnose problems with electrical systems
* Repair or replace faulty components
* Installation of new electrical equipment
* Checking and adjusting electrical systems
* Servicing batteries, starters and generators
Responsibilities
* Conducting diagnostics of electrical problems using diagnostic equipment
* Repair or replace faulty parts such as wires, fuses, relays and switches
* Installation of new electrical equipment such as stereos, lighting and security systems
* Checking and adjusting electrical systems such as lighting systems, ignition systems and charging systems
* Maintenance of batteries, starters and generators, ensuring their proper operation and service life
* Compliance with safety regulations when working with electricity and vehicles
* Keeping records of work performed and spare parts
* Collaboration with auto mechanics and other specialists to provide comprehensive vehicle servicing
Education and experience
*A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required to work as an automotive electrician
*Experience in electrical engineering and automotive repair required
* Knowledge of the principles of operation of electrical systems of automobiles
* Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams
* Experience using diagnostic equipment
* It is desirable to have a certificate or license as an automobile electrician
