Responsibilities of an electrician for car maintenance
* Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems such as lighting, ignition system, power windows and climate control.
* Installation and repair of electronic components including engine computers, ABS systems and airbags.
* Installation of additional electrical systems such as stereos, horns and alarm systems.
* Repair or replacement of wiring and electrical connectors.
* Diagnosis and troubleshooting of battery and generator systems.
* Testing and adjusting electronic systems to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications.
* Drawing up reports, storing documentation and ordering spare parts.
* Ensure safety regulations are followed and proper equipment and tools are used.
Requirements for an electrician for car maintenance
* Diploma or certificate from a vocational school or college in Automotive Electrician or equivalent work experience.
*Excellent knowledge of automotive electrical systems, including electrical principles, electronics, and computer diagnostics.
* Skills in working with diagnostic equipment, multimeters and oscilloscopes.
* Knowledge of safety regulations when working with electrical systems.
*Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
* Experience in the automotive service industry is preferred.
Additional skills and qualifications
* Certification in Automotive Troubleshooting and Repair (ASE or equivalent).
* Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicles.
* Experience with advanced diagnostic tools such as digital oscilloscopes and scanners.
* Knowledge of using diagnostic and technical information.
