Central caliper automatic transmission 03-72LE

Function:

* Provides lubrication and cooling of rotating automatic transmission parts.
* Supports planetary gears, shafts and couplings.

Components:

* Frame
* Central bearing
* Planetary shaft bearings
* Separators
* Seals and oil deflectors

Location:

* Located in the center of the automatic transmission, between the front and rear planetary gears.

Types of central supports:

* Cast (with increased strength and durability)
* Stamped (more economical, but less durable)

Replacement:

* The central caliper is usually replaced during an automatic transmission overhaul.
* Before installing a new caliper, you must thoroughly clean the housing and check the condition of other automatic transmission components.

Required tools and materials:

* Set of socket wrenches
* Hammer
* Screwdriver
* Parts cleaner
* Transmission sealant
* New central caliper

Replacement procedure:

1. Drain the oil from the automatic transmission.
2. Remove the automatic transmission pan.
3. Unscrew and remove the oil pump caliper.
4. Knock out the central caliper from the automatic transmission housing.
5. Clean the housing and inspect it for wear or damage.
6. Install the new center support and hammer it in with a hammer.
7. Reinstall the oil pump caliper.
8. Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten it with bolts.
9. Fill the automatic transmission with fresh oil.
