Partial oil change in automatic transmission A6GF1

Materials:

* Automatic transmission oil (about 4 liters)
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* O-ring for drain plug

Tools:

* Set of keys or sockets
* Pliers
* Lift or pit
* Oil drain container

Procedure:

1. Preparation:

* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Turn off the engine and set the parking brake.
* Lift the car on a lift or drive it into a hole.

2. Draining the oil:

* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission pan.
* Place a container to drain the oil under the plug.
* Loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain.
* When the oil stops flowing, replace the drain plug and tighten it with a new O-ring.

3. Removing the automatic transmission pan:

* Unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the pan, being careful not to damage the gasket.
* Remove the old gasket and clean the pan and the surface of the transmission housing.

4. Replacing the automatic transmission filter:

* Remove the old automatic transmission filter from the pan.
* Reinstall the new filter.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan:

* Apply a new gasket to the automatic transmission pan.
* Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts.

6. Filling oil:

* Fill the automatic transmission with new oil through the filler plug.
*Use a funnel to avoid oil spillage.
* Fill in about 4 liters of oil.

7. Checking the oil level:

* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift the gear selector to different positions and return it to the “P” position.
* Check the oil level through the filler plug. The oil should be level with the bottom edge of the hole.
* If the oil level is low, add small amounts and check the level again.

8. Resetting the oil aging counter:

* For some car models with A6GF1 automatic transmission, the oil aging counter must be reset to zero after changing the oil.
* The zeroing procedure varies depending on the vehicle model.

Notes:

* It is recommended to use automatic transmission oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
* A partial oil change usually replaces about 50-60% of the total oil volume in the automatic transmission.
*A complete oil change may require special equipment.
* Regularly changing the automatic transmission oil extends the life of the gearbox and prevents costly repairs.
