To turn on the automatic transmission (AT) in a Toyota Corolla:
1. Make sure the gear shift lever is in neutral (N).
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Move the gear shift lever to the desired position:
– P (Park): Locks the transmission and is used when the vehicle is stationary.
– R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
– N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine.
– D (Drive): Basic driving mode in which the transmission automatically changes gears.
– S (Sport): Optimizes transmission performance for more dynamic driving.
4. Release the brake pedal. The car will start moving.
Additional tips:
*If the vehicle’s engine is not running, you will not be able to move the gear shift lever from the P position.
* When shifting into reverse gear, turn on the reverse signal.
* Avoid changing gears while the vehicle is moving.
* Do not shift the gearshift lever to P while the vehicle is moving, as this may damage the transmission.
