Automatic transmission return hose from radiator

The automatic transmission return hose connects the radiator to the automatic transmission (AT) and ensures the return of used transmission oil back to the transmission pan. It is usually made of a flexible elastomeric material such as rubber or silicone.

Function

* Transferring used transmission oil from the radiator back to the automatic transmission sump.
* Maintaining constant oil circulation in the system.

Types

There are several types of automatic transmission return hoses:

*Elastomeric Hoses: Made from rubber or silicone, they provide flexibility and durability.
* Metal hoses: Made from stainless steel or aluminum, they are more durable but less flexible.
* Reinforced Hoses: Elastomeric hoses with steel or fabric mesh reinforcement provide additional strength and pressure resistance.

Signs of a faulty automatic transmission return hose

*Transmission oil leak
* Reducing the amount of oil in the automatic transmission pan
* Automatic transmission overheating
* Automatic transmission slipping

Replacement

Replacing an automatic transmission return hose usually does not require special tools or skills. To do this you need:

1. Raise the car and install safety supports.
2. Drain the oil from the automatic transmission.
3. Disconnect the return hose from the radiator and automatic transmission.
4. Install a new hose and tighten the clamps.
5. Fill the automatic transmission with oil and check for leaks.

Recommendations

* Regularly check the automatic transmission return hose for leaks and damage.
* Replace the hose at the first sign of trouble.
* Use high quality hoses designed to withstand high temperatures and pressures.
* When replacing a hose, it is also recommended to replace the clamps and gaskets.
