CV joint (constant velocity joint) internal for Volkswagen Passat B5 with automatic transmission:

Signs of a CV joint malfunction:

* Clicking or knocking noises when turning

Replacement procedure:

1. Raise and secure the car using a jack and stands.
2. Remove the wheel from the corresponding side.
3. Disconnect the drive shaft from the wheel hub.
4. Remove the old CV joint from the transmission.
5. Install a new CV joint onto the drive shaft and insert it back into the transmission.
6. Connect the drive shaft to the wheel hub.
7. Install the wheel and tighten the mounting bolts.
8. Lubricate the CV joint and boot.

Notes:

* Before replacing the CV joint, it is recommended to inspect the boot for damage and replace it if necessary.
* When installing a new CV joint, use a lubricant designed specifically for bearing units.
* After replacing the CV joint, it may be necessary to adjust the wheel alignment angles.
