Mitsubishi Outlander automatic transmission dipstick

Location:

* The automatic transmission dipstick is located in the engine compartment under the hood.
* It is located in the rear of the engine compartment, next to the cylinder block.

Checking the automatic transmission fluid level:

The engine must be warmed up to operating temperature.

1. Place the car on a level surface.
2. Make sure the parking brake is set.
3. Remove the automatic transmission dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag or paper towel.
4. Insert the dipstick back into the tube and remove it again.
5. Inspect the fluid level on the dipstick.

Normal automatic transmission fluid level:

The automatic transmission fluid level should be between the “HOT” (hot) and “COLD” (cold) marks on the dipstick.

Reasons for low automatic transmission fluid level:

* Automatic transmission fluid leak
* Worn seals or gaskets
* Automatic transmission overheating

Consequences of low automatic transmission fluid level:

* Wear and damage to internal automatic transmission components
*Oil that is too hot can burn clutches and other parts
* Complete loss of transmission

Checking the condition of the automatic transmission fluid:

* The color of the automatic transmission fluid should be reddish-brown.
* The consistency of the liquid should be liquid and free of particles. If the fluid appears dark or contains particles, this may indicate a replacement is needed.

Frequency of automatic transmission fluid replacement:

The frequency of changing automatic transmission fluid depends on the car model and operating conditions. On average, it is recommended to replace the fluid every 60,000-100,000 km. Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
