Mercedes automatic transmission service dipstick

The service dipstick for Mercedes-Benz automatic transmissions is used to check the level and condition of the transmission fluid (ATF).

Construction and use

* The dipstick is made of metal and has a ruler graduated to measure the ATF level.
* At the end of the dipstick there is a hook that allows you to pull the dipstick out of the tube along with the liquid.
* To check the fluid level, insert the dipstick into the tube and pull it out. The liquid level should be between the “min” and “max” marks on the ruler.
* When checking the condition of the fluid, pay attention to its color and smell. Dark or cloudy fluid may indicate the need for replacement. A burning smell may indicate transmission problems.

Where to find

The Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission service dipstick is usually located in the engine compartment. It can be found near the gearbox or in a separate tube.

Note

* Check the automatic transmission fluid level only with the engine running and warm.
* Do not add fluid excessively as this may cause problems with the transmission.
* Regularly check the level and condition of the automatic transmission fluid to prevent problems with its operation.
