Automatic transmission control
* Shift Lever: Use the lever to select the following positions: P (Park), R (Reverse), N (Neutral), D (Drive), S (Sport), L (Low) and B (Engine Braking).
*Accelerator pedal: Press the pedal to increase the vehicle’s speed.
*Brake Pedal: Press the pedal to slow down or stop the vehicle.
* ECT POWER button (if equipped): Hold the button to activate Enhanced Performance Mode for more responsive acceleration.
Starting the car
* Make sure the gear shift lever is in the P (park) position.
* Turn on the ignition.
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear shift lever to position D (drive).
* Release the brake pedal and press the accelerator pedal.
While driving
* Shift gears according to road conditions.
* Use sport mode (S) or low gear (L) for overtaking or driving on steep hills.
*Engine braking (B) can be used to slow the vehicle on slippery surfaces or when going downhill.
Car parking
* Stop the vehicle completely.
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the gear shift lever to P (parking).
* Turn off the ignition.
Automatic transmission service
* Regular ATF (Transmission Fluid) Change: Replace ATF as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, usually every 40,000-60,000 km.
*Checking ATF Level: Check the ATF level regularly using the automatic transmission dipstick.
* Replacing the automatic transmission filter: Replace the automatic transmission filter in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations, usually along with replacing the ATF.
* Automatic Transmission Diagnostics: If you notice any problems with the automatic transmission, such as gear slipping, shifting hesitations, or noises, take it to a qualified mechanic.
Tips for extending the life of an automatic transmission
* Avoid sudden acceleration and braking.
* Do not overload the vehicle.
*Use the correct brand and type of ATF recommended by the manufacturer.
*Service the automatic transmission regularly as indicated in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Avoid driving on flat or punctured tires.
