Stages of adaptation of SsangYong Kyron automatic transmission

Materials:

* Diagnostic scanner
*OBD-II cable
* ATF engine oil
* Automatic transmission filter

Instructions:

1. Preparation

* Place the car on a flat surface.
* Start the engine and run it for a few minutes to warm up the transmission.

2. Connecting the scanner

* Connect the diagnostic scanner to the vehicle’s OBD-II connector.

3. Clearing adaptation data

*Using a scan tool, navigate to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
* Find the “Clear adaptation data” function.
*Follow the instructions on the scanner screen to clear the data.

4. Changing the automatic transmission oil and filter

* Drain the old ATF oil from the transmission.
* Replace the automatic transmission filter with a new one.
* Fill the transmission with new ATF according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

5. Automatic transmission adaptation

* Move the gear selector to “P” (park).
* Start the engine, but do not move away.
*Press and hold the brake pedal for approximately 30 seconds.
* Slowly move the gear selector through all positions (P, R, N, D, 2, L) holding each position for approximately 3 seconds.
* Return the gear selector to position “P”.
* Turn off the engine.

6. Adaptation check

* Restart the engine.
* Drive the car on a flat road for several kilometers, changing gears.
*Check that the gears shift correctly and that there is no slipping.

Notes:

* Several driving cycles may be required to accurately adapt the automatic transmission.
* After adapting the automatic transmission, it is recommended to check the ATF oil level and top up if necessary.
*If any problems occur during adaptation, contact a qualified mechanic.
