Step 1: Preparing for Setup

* Install the new automatic transmission correctly and connect all the necessary components.
*Check transmission fluid level and fill to recommended level.
* Find the appropriate automatic transmission diagnostic scanner for your specific vehicle model.

Step 2: Read and Clear Error Codes

* Connect the scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector.
* Read all stored automatic transmission error codes.
* Clear all error codes.

Step 3: Gear Shift Position Calibration

* Make sure the gear shift lever is in park position (P).
* Start the engine.
* Scan the automatic transmission using a scan tool and follow the on-screen instructions to perform a shift position calibration.
* Check that the gear selector position signal from the scanner matches the actual gear selector position.

Step 4: Reset adaptations

* Scan the automatic transmission using a scanner and follow the on-screen instructions to reset all adaptations.
* This will delete all previously recorded driving patterns and training data from the automatic transmission.

Step 5: Adaptive Learning

* Drive your car in various driving conditions including city traffic, highway and mountain roads.
*Vary speed, load and gear shift position.
* This will allow the automatic transmission to ‘learn’ your driving style and adapt accordingly.

Step 6: Advanced Setup (Optional)

* If you want to achieve maximum automatic transmission efficiency, you can use the following additional settings using a scanner:
*Linear Switch Pressure Limit
* Clutch pressure lock
* Shift servo pressure

Step 7: Reprogramming the automatic transmission (optional)

* In some cases, it may be necessary to reprogram the automatic transmission using updated software.
*This can be done using a dealer scanner or third party setup tools.
* Reprogramming can improve automatic transmission performance, fuel economy and reliability.
