Partial automatic transmission oil change for Mitsubishi Pajero 4

Required tools and materials:

* 4 liters of ATF WS (or equivalent) transmission fluid
* New automatic transmission pan gasket
* Funnel
* Wrenches or socket ratchet
* Clean rags

Instructions:

1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.

3. Stop the engine and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.

4. Place a container under the car to drain the used oil.

5. Locate the automatic transmission pan located at the bottom of the transmission.

6. Clean the automatic transmission pan and drain plug with a rag.

7. Unscrew the drain plug using a wrench or ratchet. Be careful, the oil may be hot.

8. Drain the used oil into a container. Let it drain completely, this may take 15-20 minutes.

9. Replace the drain plug and tighten it.

10. Remove the automatic transmission pan using a wrench or ratchet. Be careful, there may be some oil left in there.

11. Replace the pan gasket with a new one.

12. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts.

13. Take a funnel and pour 4 liters of new transmission fluid into the hole located on top of the transmission.

14. Start the engine and switch through different driving modes to circulate new fluid through the system.

15. Check the fluid level in the automatic transmission using the dipstick. The level should be between the ‘HOT’ and ‘COLD’ marks. Add fluid if necessary.

Adviсe:

* It is better to carry out a partial oil change every 60,000 km to ensure optimal automatic transmission performance.
* It is recommended to use ATF WS transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
*If the oil is very dark or contains metal particles, a complete oil change may be required.
* A complete oil change requires special equipment, which can be found at the dealer or specialized service centers.
