Automatic transmission control in Hyundai Solaris

Transfers

* P (Park): Parking gear, locks the drive wheels.
* R (Reverse): Reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Neutral gear, the drive wheels are not locked and not connected to the engine.
* D (Drive): Main gear for forward movement.
* 2 and L (Low): Gears for low speed driving or when climbing steep slopes.

Gear selector

* To change gear, press the brake pedal and move the gear selector to the desired position.
* To shift from P to all other gears, you must press the gear selector release button located on the handle.

control modes

* Standard mode: Gear shifts automatically based on speed, engine speed and throttle input.
* ShiftLock Mode: Used to limit the gear range. To switch to ShiftLock mode, press the button labeled ‘S’ on the gear selector.

Gear indicators

*The instrument panel displays the currently engaged gear.

Safety

* Never change gears while the vehicle is moving.
*Always use the parking brake when the vehicle is parked, even in a parking lot.
* Do not keep the vehicle in one gear on steep descents, as this may cause the transmission to overheat.

Adviсe

*For optimal fuel economy, use ‘D’ mode under normal driving conditions.
* Use ‘2’ and ‘L’ modes to improve traction on hills or when towing.
* If possible, avoid sudden acceleration and braking.
