Types of automatic transmissions in Volvo FH12

The Volvo FH12 is equipped with three types of automatic transmissions:

* I-Shift: Standard automatic transmission with 12 forward and 4 reverse gears. It provides smooth gear shifting and high fuel efficiency.
* I-Shift Dual Clutch: Dual clutch transmission with 12 forward gears. It provides faster and smoother gear changes than I-Shift and is suitable for heavy-duty applications.
* Powertronic: Torque converter transmission with 12 forward gears. It provides high traction at low speeds and smooth gear changes.

Features of I-Shift and I-Shift Dual Clutch gearboxes

* I-Shift shift lever: The ergonomic shift lever is located on the side of the instrument panel. It provides intuitive and convenient gearbox control.
* Shift Logic: The transmission’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) uses sophisticated shift logic to select the optimal gear ratio based on engine load, speed and other parameters.
* Retarder: I-Shift and I-Shift Dual Clutch transmissions have a built-in retarder that helps slow the truck down without using the brakes.
*Operating Modes: Transmissions offer various operating modes, including Eco Mode, Performance Mode and Off-Road Mode, to adapt to different driving conditions.

Features of the Powertronic gearbox

* Torque Converter: The torque converter ensures smooth starting and shifting.
*Motor Controller: The transmission motor controller controls gear ratio and shifting for optimal performance and fuel economy.
* Retarder: The Powertronic transmission is also equipped with a retarder to improve braking performance.
