Type 1: Hydromechanical transmission (HMT)

*Uses a hydraulic transformer to transfer torque from the engine to the gearbox.
* Has a hydromechanical control unit for gear shifting.
*The most common type of automatic transmission.

Type 2: Variable Transmission (CVT)

*Uses two pulleys connected by a belt or chain to transmit torque.
* The gear ratio changes smoothly, providing smooth and stepless acceleration.
* Often used in smaller cars.

Type 3: Double Disc Clutch Transmission (DCT)

*Uses two clutches to change gears.
* Alternates the use of two shafts, each of which has different gears attached.
* Provides quick shifting and improved fuel economy.

Type 4: Electric Clutch Transmission (AMT)

*Uses automatic clutch to change gears.
* Usually installed in inexpensive cars.
* Provides smoother shifting than traditional manual transmissions.

Type 5: Dual Clutch Gearbox (DSG)

*Uses two clutches and two drives to simultaneously engage the next and previous gear ratios.
* Provides very fast gear changes and improves fuel economy.
* Often used in high performance vehicles.

Type 6: Planetary gearbox

*Uses planetary gears to transmit torque.
* Can have multiple gears and is compact.
* Often used in hybrid and electric vehicles.
