Shifting gears in a 6-speed automatic transmission
1. P (Park): The transmission is locked and the vehicle is stationary. Used when parking or long stops.
2. R (Reverse): Engages reverse gear for reverse driving.
3. N (Neutral): The transmission is not engaged. The engine is running, but the car is in free-rolling mode. Used for towing or starting the engine.
4. D (Drive): Primary gear for normal driving. The car shifts between all gears except first.
5. S (Sport): A more aggressive shift mode that increases engine speed for improved acceleration and responsiveness.
6. L (Low): Used for off-road driving, towing or descending steep slopes. Transmits maximum torque to the wheels.
Gear shift order:
1. Press the brake pedal.
2. Move the gear shift lever to the desired position.
3. Release the brake pedal and press the accelerator to drive.
Additional tips:
*Always engage parking mode (P) when leaving the vehicle.
*Use “D” mode for most driving conditions.
* Shift to “S” for better acceleration or when overtaking.
* Use “L” for off-road driving or towing.
* Do not switch between “D”, “S” or “L” modes while driving.
* Do not engage “R” or “N” mode while driving.
