Materials:
* Hex key
* Phillips screwdriver
Steps:
1. Remove the handle cover:
* Inspect the bottom of the gear selector knob. You will see either hidden screws or plastic plugs.
* Using a hex wrench or screwdriver, remove the screws or plugs.
* Then remove the shift knob cover by pulling it up.
2. Disconnect the wiring:
*Under the shift knob housing you will see an electrical connector.
* Press the button or latch on the connector and disconnect it.
3. Remove the unlock button (if equipped):
*Not all transmissions have a release button.
*If there is a button, press it and remove it.
4. Unscrew the gear shift knob nut:
*At the bottom of the shift knob you will see a large nut.
* Using a hex wrench, unscrew the nut.
5. Remove the handle:
*Once the nut is unscrewed, pull the handle up to remove it.
6. Disassemble the handle (optional):
*If you want to disassemble the handle, pull the top of the handle up and remove it.
* Using a screwdriver, remove the gear selector button or any other trim if necessary.
Reassembly:
* Reassemble the handle in reverse order.
* Make sure all screws and plugs are tight.
* Connect the electrical connector.
*Put on the gear knob cover.
