Materials:

* Automatic transmission oil level dipstick

Instructions:

1. Make sure the car is on a level surface.

2. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. This usually takes about 15 minutes of driving.

3. Put the car on the parking brake.

4. Open the hood.

5. Find the automatic transmission oil level dipstick. It usually has a bright handle and may be labeled «ATF» (automatic transmission oil).

6. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.

7. Reinsert the dipstick and insert it completely.

8. Pull out the dipstick and check the oil level. The oil should be between the «Min» and «Max» marks on the dipstick.

9. If the oil level is below the «Min» mark, add oil. To do this, use the ATF oil recommended by the manufacturer.

10. Continue adding oil and checking the level until it reaches the «Max» mark. Do not overfill the oil.

11. Insert the dipstick back into its housing.

12. Close the hood.

Notes:

* The automatic transmission oil level is usually checked on a cold engine. However, some manufacturers recommend checking it on a warm engine. Consult the owner’s manual for your specific vehicle.
* Use only manufacturer-recommended ATF oil. Using the wrong oil can damage the transmission.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level regularly, especially if you often drive with a trailer or in difficult conditions.
