Materials:
* Dipstick for checking the automatic transmission fluid level
* Automatic transmission pan gasket (usually included with transmission fluid)
* 3-4 liters of Honda ATF DW-1 transmission fluid
* Carburetor cleaner or brake cleaner
* Funnel
* Wrenches (usually 10 or 12 mm)
* Drain pan for waste liquid (small bucket or basin)
* Gloves
* Clean rags
Instructions:
1. Check the automatic transmission fluid level:
* Put the car in park and start the engine.
* Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
* Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the fluid to drain into the automatic transmission pan.
* Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
* Reinsert the dipstick and remove it. The fluid level should be between the «HOT» and «COLD» marks on the dipstick.
2. Raise the car:
* Use a jack and stands to lift the vehicle safely.
3. Remove the engine protection:
* If equipped, remove the engine protection by unscrewing the mounting bolts.
4. Remove the automatic transmission pan:
* Locate the automatic transmission pan under the car.
* Unscrew the pan mounting bolts using a suitable size wrench.
* Be careful because… A small amount of ATF fluid may leak from under the pan.
5. Clean the tray and magnet:
* Clean the tray and the magnet inside it of metal shavings and other debris.
* Use carburetor cleaner or brake cleaner to degrease the pan and magnet.
6. Install a new gasket:
* Attach a new automatic transmission pan gasket to the pan. Make sure the gasket is in place and has not moved.
7. Reinstall the tray:
* Lift the automatic transmission pan and install it in place. Tighten the mounting bolts using the required torque.
8. Fill with transmission fluid:
* Insert a funnel into the hole for the automatic transmission dipstick.
* Fill in about 3 liters of Honda ATF DW-1 transmission fluid.
* Insert the dipstick and check the fluid level.
*Add fluid if necessary and check the level again.
9. Start the engine:
* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift the gear selector through all positions and return to Park.
* Turn off the engine.
10. Check the automatic transmission fluid level:
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level again using the dipstick. The level should be between the «HOT» and «COLD» marks.
*Add fluid if necessary.
11. Lower the car:
* Carefully lower the vehicle from jacks and stands.
12. Install engine protection (if equipped):
* Reinstall the engine protection and tighten the mounting bolts.
Adviсe:
* Replace the transmission fluid and automatic transmission filter in accordance with the maintenance intervals specified in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
*Use only Honda ATF DW-1 transmission fluid recommended for your vehicle.
* Do not overtighten the automatic transmission pan mounting bolts.
* Dispose of used transmission fluid and filter properly.
