Porsche is the automotive company that is extraordinary, they have the RUF which is the best model and has produced several strong and fast upgrades. The latest model is based on the Cayman RUF CTR 3 which is a perfect model.

The CTR 3 is a symbol that reveals how the Porsche Cayman should be in tune up. German sports car that was capable of producing 265 horsepower output, all thanks to inline-six engine with a capacity of 2.9 liters, but the RUF had put them to use their best to provide the best Cayman. It did succeed in making the car look of the redesign and replace the existing engines with 3.8 liter six-cylinder engine more powerful by the output of 750 horsepower, it’s very shocking!

Porsche RUF CTR 3

Porsche RUF CTR 3

Just in case your math is slow, that’s more than twice the ponies has the standard Cayman. Just goes to show how these guys are one of the best at what They do.

Ever heard of a sports car that has four seats. Ever seen a car that is extremely sporty in its looks and yet seats 4 people with excellent comfort and provides an experience unparallel to any other premium sedan. Welcome to the revolutionary model Porsche Panamera that was developed exclusively to seat four people and yet integrate all the features that are typical to a high performing Porsche model. The Panamera exudes a look and feel that can only be matched with the high class engineering of Porsche.

To be different is the difference that Porsche is known for and without doubt, the New Panamera offers what any other four seater Sedan can never think of coming close. The Panamera S is a model which is built to last and get you out of the comfort zone, yet drive safe with your family and load all the stuff you can.

Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera

The Engine.

With a bursting performance of a 4.8 l engine that employs Direct injection to throttle a powerful sporty performance, the Panamera develops an astounding 400 horsepower to blaze through the roads.

The performance

With an acceleration of 0-100kmph in just around 5 seconds, A Panamera would surely give you the jitter to go beyond your expectations. The 5m long mean machine gives you absolute control at high speeds and is specifically designed to give your family the thrill of a sports car. The Panamera has a top speed of around 285 kmph.

Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera

Adjustable stability.

A unique feature of the Panamera is its integrated rear spoiler that doesn’t normally show up at low speeds. Once the car cruises to around 70 – 90 km/hr, the spoiler opens up from behind to improve the traction. At higher speeds, the spoiler splits into two to become wider that indirectly keeps the car on the road at high speeds. Amazing stability at a high speed course is an important point that Panamera gives.

Safety and comfort.

Highly aristocratic upholstery with smooth interiors is a treat that Panamera gives. With an integrated Bose surround system is something that one can enjoy as one drives the Panamera.

The panamera has only four seats and is not a typical five seater like the other sedans/ four seaters. This is because a sports car with high performance must have comfortable seats at high speeds and curves. A huge boot also provides ample space for luggage and all the necessity for a family use.

There is no doubt that the muscular and sleek look of the Panamera definitely is a treat to the eye and being a four seater, does look pretty neat and sturdy when compared to the smaller sizes of the other Porsche models. To summarize it looks like the big brother of the Carrera/ Boxter models and is more commanding in its appearance.

To many sports-car enthusiasts, the Porsche Cayman has been viewed as a mid-market, version of the Boxster. Yet upon closer inspection, the Porsche Cayman is clearly a “real driver’s” car that has exceeded the expectations of many who thought it was simply a “stop gap” for those who couldn’t afford the 911.

For those of you who are looking for a cheaper alternative to the Carrera, the Cayman is a smart place to begin. Offering you upgraded engine performance over the Boxster, the Cayman’s all-round driveability simply cannot be beaten.

It has even been claimed that the Porsche Cayman “S” version actually outweighs the base model Carrera 3.6 in all areas!

Porsche Cayman

Porsche Cayman

The Cayman was born

To some, the Cayman is simply a Porsche Boxster with a slightly more convenient hard-top. This is simply not the case.

Although the Porsche Cayman shares the same mid-engine arrangement as the Gen 2 Boxter, in 2006 the engine head was replaced with the 3.6 litre head from the Carrera, allowing the use of the Vario-Cam system, also seen in the 911. The engine itself has had an upgrade from a 3.2 litre, to a new, more powerful version displaced at 3.4 litres.

Porsche Cayman

Porsche Cayman

On first glance.

The body of the Cayman is very similar to the Boxster, with an obvious difference being the hard-top roof. The Cayman also borrowed body parts such as the doors, fenders and trunk lid from the Boxster. The dash is also identical. But as the saying goes, “never judge a book by its cover”, this could not be more applicable when talking about the Porsche Cayman.

Let’s take a look at the set-up.

With the Cayman now having a hard-top roof, this gave the engineers the option to stiffen the suspension system for better road handling. With that in mind, the engine now boasts another 15 more horsepower than the Boxster S, with the manual version giving speeds of 0-62 in just 5.4 seconds. These factors have greatly increased the overall performance of the Cayman that has an engine output of 295 horsepower, with torque reaching 251lb at 6,250 rpm. With the Boxster reaching a top speed of 167mph, the Cayman takes you to its limit at 171mph.

Another feature that makes the Cayman a huge improvement over the Boxster is its rigidity. Lower springs and strut-stop springs, coupled with larger roll bars gives an overall rigidity increase of 150% over the Boxster S. The Cayman also comes with an active spoiler for extra-down force. This spoiler will activate at speeds of 75 miles and over.

Cayman sales

In the first year of production, Cayman sales actually accounted for 40-50% percent of all of Porches sales, showing the Cayman to be a clear success.

Something extra?

The Cayman offers a huge range of options for your car. Starting with up-grades, you can find yourself spending extra money on things such as sport seats or rear-parking sensors.

19 inch wheel up-grades are also available for you to purchase.

If you like to keep yourself at a constant temperature, you can opt for heated or cooled seats.

Ceramic non-fade brakes are now on the options list.

The navigation system, which actively (and accurately) shows you where the traffic jams are, is a popular option for many.

The P.A.S.M, which stands for Porsche Active Suspension management is an option that gives you a sport setting complete with active dampers.

Both interior and exterior options are also available.

Finally, a Porsche Chrono package, which allows you to change control functions and even gives you a lap-timer.

With all of these options in mind, you should also compare the luggage space that the Cayman gives over the Boxster. The Cayman offers both a front storage compartment and a trunk at the rear. All in all, the Cayman will allow an overall storage space of 560 litres, with a 410 litre trunk and front storage space of 150 litres. Considering this, the Cayman is one of those rare sports cars that combine both performance and practicality.

Extra modifications on the current Cayman include LED front lights that give the car a more aggressive and up-to-date look.

The PDK double clutch 7 speed semi automatic gearbox now replaces the older tip-tronic gearbox, giving a better driver experience at both low and high speeds.

The Cayman limited edition models

Porsche offer two limited edition Cayman’s. Firstly the Cayman Porsche design edition 1 that was manufactured in 2007. With the only color being black, the design edition 1 was built with Porsche time pieces being the inspiration behind the design. The interior consists of dark colors and only 777 were built, making this a rare car indeed. The 19 inch wheels are also in black and are borrowed from the 911 turbo complete with bigger brakes.

In 2009 the Cayman S “Sport” was released. This car is offered in six individual non-metallic colors and includes limited edition, 19 inch wheels. The engine has also been tuned to an impressive 303 B.H.P, making this a very attractive purchase to the Porsche enthusiast.

The competition

The Porsche Cayman obviously has it competitors, as with all cars on the market. In direct competition with the Cayman includes desirable cars such as the extremely popular BMW Z4, the sleek Audi TT, the Chevrolet Corvette and the BMW 135i.

“But what single, yet important factor singles the Cayman out from the competition?”

“The mid-engine lay-out offered by no one else out there!”

This really is a huge selling point as the Cayman delivers balance and precision on and off the track that is hard to find in other cars of the same league.

Though critics have knocked the fact that the sporty posh car maker has been dabbling in SUVs, they may close their lips after seeing the new 2011 Porsche Cayenne.

One of the most noticeable changes is the drive. In earlier models, the critics were right, Porsche’s SUVs were heavy and didn’t have the smooth drive that Porsche owners covet. But they have learned a lot since their first trial in 2003, and have even gone leaps and bounds from last year’s model.

2011 Porsche Cayenne

2011 Porsche Cayenne

This year’s model is lighter and more agile than ever. A 400 pound drop from previous models can contribute to the overall more Porsche-feel. How did they accomplish this incredible Biggest Loser like weight loss? They literally have shown their innovation by being able to cut pounds everywhere. First off, they have used an extensive amount of aluminum in the doors, hood and chassis. Then they went on to the engine, park break, and even the tires? I had no idea that tires could be made lighter, but somehow they achieved it. The Cayenne’s towing capacity is enough for all your kid’s friends and their lacrosse equipment (it gets maxed out at about 6,000 pounds). The V-6 engine makes is just enough car for those beginning drivers, which makes the Cayenne a great SUV to pass down for a Sweet 16 gift– when the time comes.

2011 Porsche Cayenne

2011 Porsche Cayenne

But if you are more into saving the world by day and coming home to the family at night, you might want to try the 2011 Cayenne S Hybrid. Yes, that’s right, it comes in Hybrid. For those out of the loop-this will be Porsche’s third year making the Cayenne S Hybrid. Coming from an avid Cayenne consumer, the design for these eco savers has only gotten better from the 2009 debut. Now the design- and this goes for all the 2011 Cayenne models- is sleek and even sexy? I wasn’t sure if an SUV could be considered sexy, but this transformation is something like The Swan (you know, that reality show that used plastic surgery to turn “ugly ducklings” into “The Swan”). One of the main advantages of going hybrid is the fuel economy which is about 22/25. The 2011 Cayenne S Hybrid can go from 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds, which is pretty good. The great thing about this model is that it has a parallel hybrid system which means that there is no perception of the various drive modes (gas, gas and electric, and electric). What does this mean for the owner of this hybrid? It means that while they are just driving around, taking their kids to school, running errands and going to date night with the wife, they don’t experience any change in feeling from the regular Cayenne S to the Cayenne S Hybrid. At last, you can feel like you are saving the world without any sacrifice in speed or luxury.

Porsche re-entered a market sector that they hadn’t been involved in since the production of the Porsche 550 Spyder came to an end in 1956. The mid-engined Porsche Boxster as it was to be known was the first purpose built roadster since that time. The internal model number was the 986 and was first released late in 1996 with a 2.5 litre flat six engine, developing a relatively respectable 201 horse power which, when couple with the manual gear box was good for 149 miles per hour and a 0 to 60 sprint time of 6.9 seconds. Although this performance wasn’t too bad the first generation of the Boxster came in for some criticism due to it being a little under-powered. This was especially the case if, as a customer, you opted for the tiptronic gearbox as this had a significant performance impact, dropping the top speed to 146 mph but even more significantly the sprint time increased to 7.6 seconds which was not really adequate for what was supposed to be a sports car.

Porsche Boxster

Porsche Boxster

In 2000 Porsche addressed the issue somewhat by increasing the size of the standard engine to 2.7 litres which had the effect of increasing power to 217 bhp. Top speed for the new model increased to 157 mph with a corresponding 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds. Also in 2000, Porsche introduced the Porsche Boxster S, which had a 3.2 litre flat 6 engine. This version produced 249 bhp which dropped the 0-60 time to a much more acceptable 5.9 seconds. In a small car like the Boxster, this was a significant improvement.

Porsche Boxster

Porsche Boxster

At the same time, after working closely with Toyota, Porsche decided to implement a cost saving program through component sharing. Consequently, the 986 Boxster shared bonnet, front wings and distinctive ‘fried egg’ style headlamp units with the 996 version of the Porsche 911. Many people have speculated that this move had such an impact on Porsche’s bottom line that it prevented it being acquired by another company.

In 2003, the Porsche Boxster underwent a facelift and improved in a few minor areas. For example, the plastic window in the rear of the folding roof was replaced with a glass one. The Boxster also received a glove box for the first time and an updated steering wheel. Other aesthetic changes were also made such as replacing the orange indicator lenses at the front and rear of the car with grey ones.

In 2004, Porsche released the most powerful version of the Boxster to date with the release of a limited edition version 550 Spyder. Limited to a production run of just 1953 cars, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original 1953 Porsche 550 Spyder. This car had a 266 hp version of the 3.2 litre unit which was good enough to get the Boxster from zero to 60 in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 165 mph.

Porsche continued to make steady improvements and upgrades to the Boxster over the next few years, until, in 2009, Porsche released the second generation Porsche Boxster, which had the internal model number 987. The new S version of this model had an uprated engine which now had 291 hp from the 3.4 litre unit. Top speed is now 169 mph and the 0-60 time is a healthy 5.4 seconds.

Often said to be firstly named the Porsche 901, the name was later scrapped due to Peugeot having copyright over car model names which contain three numbers, with a zero in the middle. The Porsche had a name change to 911 before release in 1964. Replacing the Porsche 356, the beginnings of this long running classic proved to owe itself to the great styling of the car, and great performances in a number of races on a spectrum of driving surfaces. Finishing first in the Monte Carlo Rally and Targa Florio, the rear wheel drive Porsche 911 proved popular and many variations were produced which were of greater capacity and power. The comfortable and easy to drive sports car proved popular mainly due to the styling, but with a backed up pedigree on the track.

Porsche 911

Porsche 911

The 1991cc 6 cylinder 911 shared components with the lesser 912 model. The Porsche 911 had further variations of the 911 produced, namely the Targa top 911, an automatic 911 variation, an entry level 911, the more powerful 911S and the 911T which replaced the previous Porsche 912 model. The engine capacity was later increased to 2200cc across the 911 range, with the introduction of the C and D series in 1970.

Two years after the C and D series saw the introduction of the E and F series, with further power increases from the released C and D series. The 2.2 litre engine was increased to 2.4 litre, with the only other change made to the transmission. Porsche was very aware of the success the previous series had received, and therefore were cautious not to upset the trade. The next 911 version released saw a massive amount of praise from the press and enthusiasts, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS was equipped with a 2.8 litre engine and is often labelled the best classic 911. The Carrera received an even greater power increase, and had great success in finish second place in the 1974 Le Mans race. The G,H, I and J series were later released, with further engine increases, making the 911 having a minimum engine capacity of 2.7 litre.

Porsche 911

Porsche 911

1974 saw the launch of the Porsche 911 Turbo, a move which helped Porsche re-establish sales of the 911 which had taken a slight downward turn. The 3 and 2.3 litre engine of the Porsche 911 Turbo was an increase from previous variations of the 911, with another addition of the rear whale tail spoiler, and revised body kit.

The Porsche 911 was in danger during the early 80s of being replaced with the Porsche 928, but successful continual sales saw the plan abandoned. The 911 cabriolet was also released in the early 80s, with great praise and often said to be more aesthetically pleasing compared to the Targa top. With successful sales throughout the 80s, the Porsche 964 type 911 was released in the late 80s with some notable forwards steps with power steering and anti braking system as standard. The 911 Turbo was also revamped in 1989 with another increase in capacity to a 3.6 litre engine.

The type 993 was introduced in 1993 with only a slight variation to the styling in comparison to the previous 911 variations. The 911 Turbo was upgraded and was now twin turbo charged with four wheel drive. The new 996 got a very negative response from the motor world, with the styling of the car undergoing massive changes, much to the disappointment of the 911 lovers. The classic bug eye headlamps were scraped, with major changes to the anterior of the car. The negative response was obviously heard loudly by Porsche, and this saw the releases of more powerful variations of the 911 series shortly after. The renewed powerful cars included the 911 996 Turbo, 911 Turbo S, Carrera 4S. Porsche finally brought back some of the move loved features of the old 911 such as the bug eyes headlamps, whilst maintaining a modernised look, with the new Porsche 997 type 911.
